The main idea for my opinion paper is that targeted advertising leads to obesity. Therefore, my diagram shows this by starting out with targeted advertising and ending up at obesity. More specifically fast food advertising directed at young children. Over time, our experiences mold our minds into a well-oiled machine that has many developed opinions on everything from what food we like to what political party we tend to vote for. Young children don’t have this luxury, for they have not had many experiences in order to develop such opinions from. I feel that companies take unfair advantage of this naive nature of young children’s minds. Children inevitably fall into a cycle of obesity that even many parents today cannot protect them from because of their busy lives and tight

Unformatted text preview: budgets. I believe that the government should enact laws that will prevent companies, namely fast food companies, from producing advertisements that are aimed at children. The number one cause of preventable death in America is smoking related deaths, which oddly enough use to have a good deal of targeted advertising directed at younger folks. Now there have been laws enacted in order to prevent such advertising. If the same is not done with fast food companies advertising, then food related deaths will soon take over as the number one cause of preventable death in America....
