Trevor Nestor Period 1 Eco-Tech “Weather” There are many scientists today that believe that global warming is causing the frequency and severity of damaging storms and harmful weather to increase. The logic behind this is briefly explained; increased global temperatures cause more evaporation and thus more storm activity (though this is only speculation: the affects of global warming and the meaning of statistics are highly controversial in the scientific community. For example, many sources indicate that evaporation rates have decreased due to a phenomenon known as global dimming). Joshua Wurman is one such scientist that is an extreme weather researcher that believes that global warming is one factor contributing to the cause of extreme weather. Joshua Wurman invented the DOW or Doppler on Wheels which enables him to instantly receive information about developing storms and even allows him to take 3d snapshots. Kevin Trenberth, a scientist in Boulder Colorado, believes that global warming will cause hurricane severity to increase, but will not create a higher frequency of storms. Since hurricanes are largely seasonal, frequency trends should continue. According to
