Writing Assignment #4: Freewriting and Close-reading Analysis Select a passage from the next set of reading for Thoreau’s Walden : 1. On the first side of the page, give yourself 5-10 minutes to freewrite about the passage. Take note of language, recurring patterns, interesting ideas, and even problems or discrepancies. Write whatever comes to mind. 2. Did your freewrite lead you to a particular interpretation of the passage? Come up with an argument about the passage. On the other side of the page write a paragraph with the following:
