Wal-Ma rt backs off of Gordon Sponsorship by Michael Smith Last week we looked at Wal-Marts developing partnership with Jeff Gordons team in NASCAR. This would be the first time Wal-Mart has bridge into the sports industry ever, making history. This week is a different story. Wal-Mart has to stay in tuned with its star player, itself. The problem with sponsoring Jeff Gordon is that they would be locked in and limited to only one person in the whole NASCAR. Wal-Mart does not see that as using their resources to the fullest; they are after the whole NASCAR. I ts about finding that relationship that both sides benefit mutually, equally. Jeff Gordons team would have had the bigger end on the previous deal. NASCAR should also think of its other players and their contentment. With Wal-Mart as a sponsor of just one of NASCARs drivers, the one driver will get a considerable amount of advertisement over the rest of NASCAR drivers....
