Taryn Lopez June 15, 2009 Outline A. Stress Management B. To inform my class the importance of managing stress in the workforce and at home. C. Stress Management is crucial to living a healthy life, physically and psychologically. Did you know workplace stress costs Americans over $300 billion yearly in health care, according to the NY Times. That number is alarmingly large and is probably getting worse in the current economic conditions. Today I am going to tell you why managing stress is crucial to your emotional and physical well-being. According to the American Medical Association, stress is a factor in more than 75% of sickness today. Also, according to the World Health Organization, stress is the #1 health problem in America. Tonight I will first discuss what stress is and some common causes of stress at work. Secondly, I will discuss the symptoms of stress. Next, I will discuss what stress can do to your body physically and mentally. Finally, I will discuss many ways to help
