Introduction to Archaeological Studies I: Prehistoric Archaeology Syllabus Summer II 2010 ANT 304 (Unique # 81565) MTWThF 10:00-11:30 AM Class room: EPS 2.136 (E. P. Schoch Building)  Lab Sections: Fridays, also in EPS 2.136 http://www.utexas.edu/maps/main/buildings/eps.html   Instructor:  Mr. Shawn Marceaux:   Office hrs : MW 12:00-1:00 Email: shawnmarceaux@mail.utexas.edu Office: EPS 4.110 Telephone: 232-6297 Course Description:  Archaeology plays a critical role in our understanding of the human past and in reconstructing human behavior and  the ways of life for people from the past. This course is a brief introductory survey of contemporary archaeological  techniques and World Prehistory for undergraduate students. We will explore the ways in which archaeologists use  material culture and other physical remains, and in some cases documentary materials, to achieve a deeper  understanding of our past. Required Textbook: Images of the Past , Douglas T. Price and Gary M. Feinman, 6th edition , available at the UT CO-OP.
