Double-entry journalAn Underappreciated Key to College Success: Sleepby Jane E. Brody, discusses how many college stu-dents start off with terrible sleeping habits and their progression as the demands of college kick in. (1)“Whatever you may think can get in the way of a successful college experience, chances are youwon’t think of one of the most important factors: how long and how well you sleep.” (Brody 1)The author is explaining that we generally don’t take our sleeping habits into account when thinking of thecollege experience. This quote is a strong line because it allows the reader to re-evaluate how they view the college experi-ence. This is especially relevant to us since we are living the college experience right now. I know person-ally, I’ve always valued sleep but it took me a very long time to realize that sleep is one of the most impor-tant aspects to success. I think this brings the reader in, especially if they have either lived through this ex-perience or are living through it now.“After being awake 16 hours in a row, brain function starts to decline, and after 20 hours awake, you perform as if legally drunk, she said.” (Cain 1)
