Physics 111A Session 1 Mariam Selevany Lab 104 9-12-10 Introduction: The objective is to use the motion detector to create distance x vs. time t and velocity v vs. time t graphs of various forms of motion. In this lab, you will make a graph as you move away/forward from the motion detector. And the purpose is to learn the functional relationship between the distance, velocity, and acceleration graphs. Experimental Procedure: -Connect the Vernier Motion Detector to Port 2 of the Universal Laboratory Interface, Make sure that ULI is on. -Open LoggerPro file (Lab 104 Creating Motion Graphs). Set the time range for 10 seconds from Setup/Data Collection/Sampling. -Have your lab partner start the motion detector by pressing the return key (or click the Collect button) on the computer. The detector will begin taking data a few seconds later. -Make a practice run to be sure the motion detector is working satisfactorily. You should collect both the distance and velocity data (2 Graphs) for this lab. -Part 1
