Exercise 1 In this exercise, we sample from the normal distribution with mean μ = 10 and standard deviation σ = 4. The distribution of the sample mean for n = 2, 5 and 30 is analyzed as follows. 1. Generate 500 sets of sample of size n = 2: Calc > Random Data > Normal . Fill in ’500’ in the first dialog box to generate 500 rows of data. Store the columns in ’c1-c2’ and enter ’10’ and ’4’ in the mean and the standard deviation dialog boxes respectively. 2. Calculate the sample mean for each sample: Calc > Row Statistics . Select ’Mean’ for ’Sta- tistic’. Enter ’c1-c2’ for ’Input variables’ and store results in ’c31’. 3. Compute descriptive statistics for the 500 sample means: Stat > Basic Statistics > Display Descriptive Statistics . Fill in ’c31’ in the dialog box.....
