Revising And Editing Step 3: Revising  includes evaluating and refining the rough draft for clarity and effectiveness. Step 4: Editing  includes proofreading and correcting the draft for conventions. You need to look at your writing again, seeing it as another person might. After reviewing your essay, you might  want to move things around or change them completely. The purposes of revising are to make sure .  that your writing is clear and well organized  that it accomplishes your goals  that it reaches your audience  The revision stage is the point at which you can .  improve paragraphs  implement self-evaluation and peer evaluation  check content and structure  make sure the language is specific and descriptive  check unity and coherence  check style and tone  The purposes of editing are to make sure .  that you have spelled all words correctly
