In this essay I will compare two poems from the civil war period of our great nation. These two poems were written about war. One is called “O Captain, My Captain” by Walt Whitman and the other is “War is Kind” by Stephen Crane. First I will give an analysis of each essay and then I will compare them to each other. I will do an analysis of “O Captain, My Captain” by Walt Whitman. The captain just so happens to be the narrator’s father and the two are on their way home on the way home on the ship. The author does not clarify what type of ship, if the ship has any other passengers or where the ship is coming from. The poem does tell me that they are returning from a fearful trip with the prize they left to seek. “O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won “ The narrator can see and hear celebration from the coast but is not celebrating because he is witnessing death. Now I will do an analysis of the second poem “War is Kind” by Stephen Crane. This
