Spheres or ion cores of FCC touch one another across a face diagonal. Each corner atom is shared between eight unit cells, while the face atom is shared between two. Cube edge length a and atomic radius R are related through a=2Rsqrt(2) Coordination number-12 atoms total per unit cell=3 APF=0.74 APF=volume of atoms in a unit cell/total unit cell volume Body-Centered Cubic (BCC)- cubic unit cell with atoms located at all eight corners and a single atom at the cube center. Center and corner atoms touch along cube diagonals.
