Dear Community: Your life or the life of someone you love may depend on what you decide to do after reading this letter. I fell in love with this community the first time my husband and I looked at houses here. It had everything we wanted…a perfect play area and park for our children, a recreation center for adults, and a feeling of community from the people we spoke with. Unfortunately, once I started noticing the unusual number of community members that have been diagnosed with serious health issues and started doing some research, I have learned that it also has some very serious health hazards. While it is a plus to have a large company close by that offers employment to many community members, I have discovered that same company for many years has been unsafely dumping chemicals that have contaminated both the soil and the ground water that feeds directly into our community’s water source.
