Fall 2010 PSYCHOLOGY 101 Unit 2, Assignment Option 4-1 Classical Conditioning at Work Instructions: Below you will find eight different situations. In each of the following situations, identify and clearly describe the unconditioned stimulus (UCS), conditioned stimulus (CS), unconditioned response (UCR), and conditioned response (CR). When you have completed all of the required components of this exercise, upload all pages of the assignment template to Blackboard within the Assignments section for this course. Warning – This assignment is typically much more difficult than most students expect. If you choose to complete this assignment please be sure that you have a strong understanding of the four components of the classical conditioning model. *Your completed assignment must: 1. Be spell and grammar checked 2. Include responses to the written questions that total a MINIMUM of 600 words (including only your answers and not the words in the questions). Papers shorter than the MINIMUM count of 600 words will receive scores of 0. 3. Be uploaded to Blackboard as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) document. 4. Use a font size of 12 point. 5. Use one of the following font types – Times New Roman (recommended) or Courier. The same font type and font size must be used throughout the entire document. *The requirements stated above are minimum requirements (i.e., if these requirements are met a score no lower than 10.5 (70%) will be assigned). Scores higher than 10.5 will be reserved for students whose work on this assignment exceeds the above-stated minimum requirements. Assignment Points (15 total points) Points Description of How Points are Earned 3 You correctly identified and described the UCS for each scenario (8 scenarios x .375 point) 3 You correctly identified and described the UCR for each scenario (8 scenarios x .375 point) 3 You correctly identified and described the CS for each scenario (8 scenarios x .375 point) 3 You correctly identified and described the CR for each scenario (8 scenarios x .375 point) 2 In APA format, you cited and referenced information from the textbook and/or other valid sources to help develop and support your written responses. [For information on finding and citing reputable (i.e., scientifically accepted) outside sources, go to the course home page on Blackboard and click on the Web Links tab found under the Course Menu ] 1 You demonstrated strong writing skills. Your paper was spell/grammar checked. Your assignment was correctly formatted (i.e., consistent/uniform font type, font size, and margins).
