Sargeant Reynolds Community College SYLLABUS FOR ECO 202 Principles of Microeconomics Effective Date: Tuesday evenings, 6 – 8:30 p.m. Room 108, Lingle Hall, Ginter Park Center August 24 to December 18, 2010 Instructor: Tim Schilling Office Location: Email: TSchilling@reynolds.edu Generally, you will get a better response by using email than by phone. I try to respond to all emails within 24 hours. On weekends it may take longer. Cell phone: 804-304-4226 Office Hours: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday evenings or by appointment Textbook: Microeconomics: Principles, Problems and Policies McConnell/Brue/Flynn, 18 th edition McGraw-Hill Publishing Learning activities: Grades will be determined as percentage of total possible points. Points are awarded as follows: Midterm exam 200 points Final exam 200 points Class participation 150 points Group project 100 points 200 points Homework 150 points Total 1,000 points Applicable learning resources: There are a number of resources that we will be using in addition to the text. I will make any “publisher’s materials” such as powerpoints available after the class in which they are used. I may also make assignments from nationally and internationally recognized media ( The New York Times , The Washington Post , The Wall Street Journal , The Financial Times , The Economist ) and certain blogs and regular columns by respected economists.
