Similarities A PPO, POS, and Consumer Drive Plan are all very much the same just with slight variations. They all allow the subscriber to see whatever provider they would like whether the provider is in or out of network. These three plans encourage you to use providers whom are in the network because that way you as the consumer are saving money. An Indemnity plan is similar to these three plans in that you too can see any provider you would like. A HMO really only shares similarities with a POS plan which has low co-payments for network providers and that the Primary Care Physician (PCP) is responsible for managing the subscribers care. A consumer driven plan and a PPO do not require you to get a referral from your PCP to see a specialist. A HMO, POS, and PPO are similar because they cover preventative care although with a PPO coverage varies. An Indemnity Plan, and a PPO are similar because pre-authorization is needed for some procedures. An HMO is also similar because it too requires pre-authorization. A Indemnity Plan and an PPO
