INFECTIOUS DISEASE CASE STUDY 24: HIV Infection Sherrie is a twenty-year-old sophomore at the University of Kentucky. Though generally healthy,she has recently been concerned about feeling very fatigued and an “ill” feeling, like she is coming down with something but doesn’t get sick. At first, she figured it was a matter of too much late-night “partying.” Since she can’t seem to shake it and it seems somewhat “feverish,” especially at night, she has decided to see a doctor at the UK Medical Center. In addition to thesesymptoms, she has a recurring yeast infection (vaginitis) that she has tried to control with overthe-counter medication. Upon hearing her complaints, you (her physician) perform a brief physical exam and notice no evidence of respiratory and cardiac abnormalities.
