Check Point: Program Planning Terminology E-mail to friend: Hi Jimmy, I just got promoted to program manager at work. This is great and means I will have a lot more responsibility around the office. I will be in charge of overseeing the program in many ways such as; conducting evaluative research, descriptive research, needs and problem assessments and purpose for evaluation as well as implementing a service delivery model and new theories. Also I will manage the inputs, outputs and outcomes associated with the program. This all means that I will be managing the programs efficiency and monitoring how well the program is working out for the clients and will give me a good idea of what aspects of the program are not up to par.

This work typically involves identifying population needs, establishing program goals and objectives, formulating budgets, managing grants, performing human resource management functions, coordinating internal and external work activities, supervising, directing and implementing departmental policies related to the program area.
