Nicole Rushin English 1101 Professor- Jennifer M. Vanags 3/29/08 My hero granddaddy At the age of 4, the only father figure I ever knew was taken away from me. He was killed in a disturbing act of violence, he was my father. My mom had very little family in Atlanta that were able to assist her with me while she worked, she thought the best thing to do would be to send me to my aunt and grandparents who lived in south Georgia, until she was able to find a care giver she could trust. The move to South Georgia changed my life; I remember taking the three-hundred mile journey and seeing only farm land as far as the eye could see. This would be a difficult transition for the average four year old but not for me. I soon found out that I had eleven cousins around my age; this was great because I am an only child. It was like gaining eleven brothers and sisters. My grandparents were not as average as you may think my grandmother worked a full time job until she retired and my grandfather was a full time farmer. Living on a farm was hard work we had to plant peanuts and corn, not to mention deal with live
