HCA 210 WEEK 4 DAY 5 CHECKPOINT BERNAL Mental Health Service Professions I conducted research on two different types of Mental Health Service jobs. One of the careers I chose was Psychologists. There is a massive amount of training, education, and qualifications required for this particular job. The minimum requirement necessary for an independent practice psychologist is a doctoral degree. For teaching, research, clinical, and counseling positions in a university, the psychologist will usually hold a PhD or a psy.d. To obtain a doctoral degree, a psychologist generally has to have five years of full-time graduate study. With the job of being a psychologist, there are many different avenues you can take for a career. There are many different agencies that would employ a person with this profession.

Along with psychologist, another mental health service job is a social worker. One of the minimum requirements for the job of a social worker is a bachelor’s degree in social work. Some majors that will qualify a person for an entry level social work job includes psychology and sociology. To work in a health care or school setting, a Masters degree in social work is usually preferred.
