Stereotypes: the beliefs that we associate with particular groups of people. Thoughts about a social group that may not correspond to reality. Gender stereotypes: the beliefs that we associate with males and females. Prejudice: a negative attitude or emotional reaction toward a particular group of people. Discrimination: biased treatment of a particular group of people. Gender bias: gender stereotypes, gender prejudice, and gender discrimination. Gender biases throughout history: o Archaeologists generally search for tools, which were associated with use by men. They never found things relating to women, even though they played a prominent role in food gathering back then. o Art forms of women, like dance and music, are not covered in history books. o Many accomplishments by women have been forgotten. Philosophers have typically depicted women as inferior to men. Gender biases in religion and mythology:
