Mike Groban Social Analysis #2 Today is a cold, rainy, windy day, and as soon as I woke up I began to perform my gender. The way that occurred was through the way I get dressed to prepare for weather conditions. When I woke up I put on sweatpants, a jacket, and work boots, and left my room disheveled. As I observed females throughout the day, I noticed they were dressed in knee-high rain boots, scarf’s, jeans, and rain jackets, and looked like they put a lot more thought and effort in how they got dressed than I did, or any other males that I observed through the day. Later in the day when I entered a room, another way I performed my gender was when I approached the door to a building, I held the door open for a group a females, and let them enter the building before myself, having that be the socially established “gentlemanly” thing to do. A third performatative of gender that I observed today was when I went to lunch; I filled my plate with food to cure my immense hunger, but as I
