During this time, the United States experienced a population and economic boom that led to the creation of an incredibly wealthy upper class. Although the era lasted for only a few years from 1870 to 1900, this period greatly impacted the lives workers that supported the business of the wealthy upper class. These workers, farmers, industrial workers and immigrants, were the backbone of the American economy of this period. These workers were very poor and worked in harsh conditions.
