According to the Mcdougall Newsletter, the Paleo Diet is not only artery-clogging saturated fats and cholesterol but also bone-damaging. Since the Paleo diet is based off of consuming organs (e.g., bone marrow) and rare meats (e.g., bear, dear, kangaroo, alligator). This newsletter argues that this diet is uncivilized due to the lack of grains, legumes, and potatoes that the diet consists of. This diet is also argued to be a “nutritionally nightmare” because this diet is based on consuming high animal protein foods which could cause a person to be ill with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and eventually death from protein toxicity. 2. What are the arguments and evidence to support the paleo diet? According to Global Health, individuals could benefit from this diet especially in weight loss, correction of metabolic dysfunction, and a decrease in waist circumference.
