American Intercontinental University Aspect of Psychology Unit 2 Individual Project Fank Darkannah May 6, 2010 Experiment 1 Before I would start this experiment, I was very pessimistic and scare because of my fear of rubbing my finger against an object that is very harsh, rough, and somehow painful. I honestly performed the entire procedure very slowly and steady. When I rubbed my index finger on the sandpaper for about 8-10 times, my finger became red and anesthetized. I also noticed flaking of my index finger. The coarseness of my finger on a scale of 1-7 was 3. After two minutes, I did rub the same finger on the sandpaper and the coarseness changed drastically to my surprise. The coarseness I estimated was about 6. My perception of the coarseness changed significantly. My sensory of the coarseness of the sandpaper turn out to be more painful and irritated. I realized sensory adaptation depends greatly on the severity of the implementation or experiment. Experiment 2
