Volpe 1 Michael Jackson English 164.04 Mrs. Jones November 1, 2006 “Stupid is as Stupid Does” Forrest Gump, the most acclaimed film of 1994, surpasses the expectations I set for it. The film truly resembles a rare gem that won an Academy Award for Best Picture. It combines the aspects of comedy and drama to create an outstanding masterpiece. The film tells the story of a man’s successful life, despite him not realizing the significance of his actions due to his low IQ. Forrest plays a piece in practically every important event in the United States’ culture from the late 1950’s to the 1980’s. In the process, Forrest Gump’s heart shines over his brain as he undeniably changes the lives of those around him. Forrest Gump has wonderful acting, different genres, and numerous settings that make the movie a must see film. The acting in Forrest Gump establishes an enjoyable viewing experience for the audience. Tom Hanks, who plays the protagonist, gives one of his best acting performances; he portrays the main role perfectly. I could not imagine any other actor playing the part. Hank’s memorable performance won him an Academy Award for Best Actor. Tom Hanks almost forces
