For as long as I can remember, we have always been taught that the Native Americans (Indians) were here before Columbus sailed the Ocean blue. Once Christopher Columbus landed on Plymouth Rock, the future of Native Americans changed. Although, at first everything was fine and everyone was getting along, in the end this was not the case. It was never truly known how Native Americans were created. There have been many different myths about the creation of Native Americans. Ultimately I believe they were created by God. We Native Americans did live in different colonies, but they were called tribes. From the late 1500's to the mid 1800's there were about 20 or more Native American tribes. (Students, 2000-2001 School Year) The number of Native Americans started to become fewer and fewer once The United States became The United States. All of the different settlers were coming and discovery new territory, and most of the territory was already inhabited by Native Americans. In some areas Treaties were signed by leaders of the tribe to let everyone co-inhabit. This would be a mistake for most of the Native
