Politicalparties were formed despite George Washington’s forewarning because a plethora of politicians acted upon their own vested interests. The public and government were opposed to warfare; however the desire for power outweighed equality. Even before George Washington’s momentous oration, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were individuals separated by beliefs on the political spectrum. Therefore, while political parties are negative, they were already a part of the United States. Political parties are a necessity because the alternative is an authoritarian state; what individuals need are smaller political parties that need to unite to get an individual elected.
