Lindsey Douglas 09/02/2010 Intro to Mass Communications Reaction Paper #1 Communication is the transmission of a message from a source to a receiver. Mass Communication works in the same way but in a broader view. Mass communication is the process of creating shared meaning between the mass media and their audiences. Mass Communication works through a source that sends a message to an interpreter; the interpreter encodes and decodes the message through a medium, to a receiver who will give feedback, producing some effect. We are connected to mass media in our daily settings through mass communication, which includes text messages, phone calls, and emails. Essentially, mass communication is all about the ability to communicate messages and images to a desired audience. Society is connected to mass media in our daily settings through culture, technology, money and media literacy. Culture is the learned behavior of members of a given social group. Although, Culture also limits our options and has an influence on our judgment it provides useful
