Unformatted text preview: Ethnic Groups and 1 Running head: ETHNIC GROUPS AND DISCRIMINATION Ethnic Groups and Discrimination Anna Thomas University of Phoenix Ethnic Groups and Discrimination Ethnic Groups are groups set apart from others because of their national origin or distinctive culture (Schaefer 2006). The Ethnic group to which I belong is white ethnics. My father and his family came to the U.S. in 1956 to escape the after math of World War II and to join other family members. My family came from Yugoslavia migrated to Austria then came to America each time moving away from the war and the effects of it. My father and his brothers faced some types of prejudice from children at school calling them Nazi’s, and dirty germens, also setting snakes and other offensive things on their back porch trying to push the family out of the neighborhood. My grandfather faced some discrimination such as Dual Labor Market, Glass Ceiling, and Redlining. The way he faced the discrimination of the Dual Labor Market is by working in a and Redlining....
