The pancreas and liver play an important role in digestion. What role do they play, and where does this  occur within the digestive tract? Pancreas secrete enzymes into the duodenum to break down carbohydrates, proteins and lipids (carbohydrase,  protease, and lipase) The liver produces bile, which is stored in the gall bladder. The gall bladder passes bile to the duodenum which  neutralizes stomach acid and coats fat to aid in fat digestion
