Unformatted text preview: It is very important for everyone to include fiber in their diet including adults and children. Our intake recommendations are of course different. It is recommended that children use the age plus five rule. This means, for example, a five-year-old should consume 5+5=10 g of fiber per day. (American Heart Association 1997) An adult is recommended to consume 25 grams per day. I learned a lot more about fiber while researching and reading to complete this checkpoint. I did not know there were different types of fiber and certainly did not know how much is recommended for me to consume. I will surely hold on to this knowledge and apply it to my diet immediately....
