Experimental Procedure Summary Name: Niraj Patel ID# 20387356 TA: Chris Goudy Date: October 22 nd , 2010 Experiment #2: Acid-Base Titrations: The Identification of an Unknown Solid Acid Part A: Standardization of NaOH NaOH needs to be standardized by oxalic acid Preparation of 100mL of standard oxalic acid: Solid oxalic acid dihydrate (H2C2O4:2H2O) is required to make 100mL of 0.1M of oxalic acid (H2C2O4) Determine the amount of acid required to prepare 100mL of a 0.1M solution (include 2H2O mass too when calculating molar mass) Record this calculation in procedure summary Verify with TA before preparing solution Quantitative transfer: Add 50mL of deionized water to the 100mL beaker and stir until solid dissolved Prepare 100mL volumetric flask by rinsing it with three 10mL amounts of deionized water Pour the oxalic acid solution into 100mL volumetric flask Rinse beaker 3 times with 10mL portions of deionized water and pour all of the rinsings into volumetric flasks to make sure the solid is transferred
