December 3 Show all your work, and explain your reasoning. It is usually best to solve problems algebraically and insert numerical values as the last step if a numerical answer is required. After you have solved a problem, pause and ask yourself whether the answer seems plausible; include with your solution a statement regarding the plausibility of the answer. BOX YOUR FINAL ANSWERS. You should treat assignments as being due on Wednesday when you come to class. The metal box for turning in homework will be in the hall on Wednesday. However, we will accept homework without penalty until Thursday 5:00 PM. While we encourage free discussion of the homework, all assignments are to be completed individually. Copying will not be tolerated. 1. One end of a steel wire is attached to the ceiling. A massive block of aluminum hangs in the air from the other end of the wire (so the wire is perfectly vertical).
