Abstract Censorship in music is a diverse issue it is a topic surrounded in controversy for the last 20 years or it has had such an impact on our youth and their expression of themselves as they try to sift through the maze of adolescence. However the question still remains should graphic material be censored or it should not be censored. In Paul Blanshard's book The Right To Read: The Battle Against Censorship, he speaks of censorship as a negative boundary on society. Blanshard argues that people have been given the right to express themselves fully and censorship is incorrect on the basis of the first constitutional right.

Music censorship is under fire for being the culprit for the recent rampant forms of violence being portrayed and acted out by the younger generation the controversial debate that entails is usually met with defiance because it is seen as the sole proprietor of most of the unexplained violence in our society. Those who are against censorship tend to stick to the principles outlined in our First Amendment and the ideals of freedom of expression. Alot of media surrounding our youth and the way music censorship is being targeted puts many people on edge fearing that the reason most of our youth lash out or show signs of rebellion is because of controversial music such as Rap and Heavy Metal.
