Comparison of Personality theories. I chose to compare the two personality theories of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. These two psychologists, once colleagues, developed personality theories that were radically different from each other. Freud has been considered everything from the most profound psychologist of the twentieth century, to being criticized as an overrated mass of contradictions. Freud Theorized that human personality revolves around sexually gratification and the human brain is simply an extension of the genitals. Freud interpreted that many psychological problems could be attributed to lack of sexual gratification. However despite his many controversial theories, Freud discovered that people suffering from certain physical ailment were alleviated from them through the use of hypnosis, there by concluding that certain psychological problems can present themselves with physical symptoms.
