1Estelle YekehMrs. Love-Kelly British Literature01 November 2017Beowulf Critical Essay An epic is defined as a long poem, typically one derived from ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a nation. Beowulf is depicted as a legendary hero related to some form of an anonymous Old English poem composedduring early 8th century in which he slays a monster, dragon and commits numerous other forms of benevolence . In my distinct point of view I feel that Beowulf fits the description of an epic superbly. The writing format of Beowulf is Old English which, largely revolves around the language of the Anglo-Saxons. The story itself is very lengthy, adventurous, compelling and shows great relation to a legendary hero ( Beowulf).An epic hero is, a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events.
