To Old Testament History Danett Bourgolly The Making of a Nation Module 4 Page 2 The Making of a Nation The specific dates of the exodus of the children of Israel fall sometime between 1446 and 1260 BC. However, the year 1446 BC has widely been disputed. The year 1260 BC is the year that has been maintained by critics, and biblical scholars utilizing I Kings 6:1 and Judges 11:26 and other factors to substantiate these biblical dates which also surmise their struggles and ultimate escape from whom texts refer to as the apiru or Habiru people (Merrill, 2008), via the Sea of Reeds, Exodus 14:21-31. (Life Application Study Bible, 1997) The Covenant Agreement found in Exodus 19:3-6, is the agreement that God made with Moses for the nation and was based upon their obedience to Him. God had promised them that they would be a kingdom of priests and as before, they knew and believed that whatever God promised to them He would do for them because they were His chosen people God’s promises to make Israel into a nation and use them as His agents of revelation
