Written by Thomas Graff, “the Locations of Wal-Mart and Kmart Supercenters: Contrasting Corporate Strategies” was published in the Professional Geographer in 1998. Graff targets students in geography and economics specialized in spatial patterns as she compares the superstores of Wal-Mart and Kmart and their successes and failures depending on the location of a store. Graff focuses mainly on the effectiveness of the locations, and what Wal-Mart had done to be successful, while Kmart had not been as successful. Graff also determines the different strategies that were taken in becoming a successful superstore. Some positive aspects of the paper were its graphs, and maps which was an effective way of showing statistics very well. It allowed readers to clearly see where it was that Wal-
