11-16-10 Post-Modern -emergence of new formal features I nthe cultures and representations in the culture for the new social life and new economic order (blockbuster era) -still used elements of modernism/a reaction to modernism (but also an extension) *-does not have a regard for reality, integrity, or honesty (like Fred Astaire hit used for dirt devil vacuum commercial) -empty, disrespect for reality (multi-tasking), tune out, disconnect *- contrast between high and low culture collapsed; (modernism brought high culture into movies like thinkin) -Post-modernism collapses the distinction between high and low culture ( Les Miserables vs. Les Mis; Opera Aida vs. Disney’s Aida; La Vie Boehme vs. Rent) - Produces pop culture; calculations of large corporations that mass the biggest profits by appealing to the biggest audience *Pastiche: Imitation of a particular formal strategy or content of an original work; creates a feelings that the new work is like the old work; not satire or parody (not cynical)

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
