GEOG 265Lg – The Water Planet Research Papers Watersheds are geomorphic systems representing the convergence of a set of  tributaries and catchment areas, bordered by a set of drainage divides. The  characteristics of the river network and topography of the landscape determine not  only the hydrological and related environmental processes that occur within that  watershed, but also how society chooses to use or interact with its physical  environment. For this research paper, you will each need to select a watershed for analysis and  then  analyze how the watershed functions in terms of hydrology, ecology and  society, and  describe the opportunities and challenges (related water supply, water  quality, transportation, flood hazards, etc.) that local citizens face. Use the movies  that we have seen in class to help make the connections between the hydrology  and the opportunities and challenges that people face in these environments.
