Abstract: Understand Terminology relative to hard drives and their interfaces. Configure IDE Hard Drives and IDE CDROM/DVD Drives in Various Master and Slave Arrangements. Introduction : How to better configure your hardrives and optical drives for better performance and cable management. Procedure: 1. Determine the operational Status of your lab PC prior to proceeding with the following steps. (Pc boots up to full windows status) 2. Examine the motherboard in your lab PC. How many IDE/PATA interfaces does the lab PC’s motherboard have? How many SATA interfaces do the lab PC’s Motherboard has? 2 IDE/PATA No SATA inputs. 3. How many drives are supported by each IDE/PATA channel? By Each SATA channel? SATA
