TAX 4001 Spring 2010 FINAL EXAM NOTE: This is a tentative study sheet for the final exam. It might be updated so check- back closer to the final. I will put a note on it if it is revised. You may bring 2 “help” sheets (back and front) with you to the exam for new material and all of the “help” sheets you’ve used on prior exams. You do need to bring a brown scantron for the final. Exam One Material 1) Basic Tax formula for individuals and corporations 2) Three types of Tax Rate Structures (i.e. progressive, regressive, proportional) 3) Different Types of Taxes (e.g. income tax, sales tax, property tax, etc…) 4) Explicit vs. Implicit Taxes, Marginal Tax Rates 5) Gross Income Inclusions/Exclusions (e.g. muni interest, LI proceeds, gifts etc….) 6) Tax Benefit Rule 7) Ordinary, Necessary and Reasonable Requirements for expense deduction 8) Related Party Transactions 9) Charitable Contributions 10) Depreciation – MACRS, Sec 179, Luxury Auto Limit 11) Bad Debt Expense and worthless securities 12) Sec 1244 Stock 13) Casualty Losses
