In defense of his many discoveries made while observing the heavens through his telescope, Galileo set forth the changes in of all of science as we now know it. From his observation of Jupiter’s satellites to the discovery of craters and mountains on our own Moon, everything witnessed and discovered by Galileo further cemented the necessary adoption of the heliocentric model of our solar system. To further bolster his claims, Galileo also viewed spots on the Sun, the phases of Venus, and the multitude of stars in the nebulousness of the Milky Way. In contrast to today’s known form of the solar system, the heliocentric model is circular, not elliptic, the stars are fixed, not moving in their own orbit, and we now know with certainty that more planets exist out side of Saturn’s orbit and even outside our own solar system.
