Act 3 scene 1 Iago’s wife Emilia sets up a time for Desdemona and Cassio to talk. Emilia informs Cassio that Othello still cares for him. 3:1 42-51

Act 3 scene 3 Desdemona assures Cassio she will stick up for him. Iago - stirs up the seeds of suspicion in Othello. He manipulates him into thinking Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair. Iago tells Othello “Beware , my lord of jealousy” 3:3 164-170

Desdemona returns and Othello tells her he has a headache. When she offers to help him she drops her handkerchief, a gift from Othello. Emilia picks it up later Iago takes it from her. He decides to plant it in Cassio’s room .

Act 3 scene 3 Othello returns and is furious. He demands that Iago give him proof of Desdemona cheating on him. 3:3 359-362 Iago tells a whopper of a lie 3:3 410-426 And convinces Othello she’s cheating. 4 beats and has 6 to open it up…leaves beats to pause and leave blank spaces**** Saying that Cassio was having a dream about Desdemona with being a huge lie…Othello falls right into it Othello becomes blinded by jealousy and envy.

Act 3 scene 3 Iago tells Othello he has seen Cassio with Othello’s first gift, the strawberry spotted handkerchief. He orders Iago to kill Cassio and proclaims he will kill Desdemona.

Act 3 scene 4 Desdemona is looking for the handkerchief. She is desperate to find it because it is the first gift Othello ever gave her. Othello enters and asks for the handkerchief.
