AFRO-AMERICAN STUDIES 101 FALL 2010 ESSAY ASSIGNMENT ONE McMillan The Legacies of Slavery GENERAL REQUIREMENTS : In 2007 the Senate and the House of Representatives of North Carolina apologized for their roles in promoting and maintaining slavery. One remedy the Senate suggests is the following: The General Assembly urges schools, colleges, and universities, religious and civic institutions, businesses and professional associations to do all within their power to acknowledge the transgressions of North Carolina's journey from a colony to a leading State, to learn the lessons of history in order to avoid repeating mistakes of the past, and to promote racial reconciliation. Use the Hine textbook, the texts of the resolutions apologizing for slavery (available on blackboard), and three sources of your choosing (such as news articles, journal articles, interviews etc.) to discuss the lasting effects of slavery in modern America.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
