PAP111/PHYS1A Tutorial Sheet 1 31 st of August 2010 Claus-Dieter Ohl Math Math Math Refresher Refresher Refresher Refresher This tutorial serves as a refresher for you to get started with the mathematics needed in the first course of your studies, Physics PAP111/PHYS1A. Some questions in the tutorials are simple, some are tough. Important is that you give all of them a try. In the tutorial the teaching assistants (TA) will discuss the questions with you. Apart from doing the homework, it is of second most importance to attend the tutorials (much more than anything else in your studies). Lecture may be more fun, but surely not as important as the a) homework and b) tutorial . Btw, some questions seem to be very easy, and some very hard. Sorry for that, I want to keep all of you entertained. At the end of this course I want to bring you all to a good level of understanding physical concepts. And (if you like it or not) mathematics is the language of physics. Therefore, LET’S GET STARTED:
