En palabras donde la sibilante /s/ va seguida por una consonante sonora, la /s/ puede sonorizarse a [z] (cp. mi[z]mo, de[z]de, mu[z]lo, ra[z]go, i[z]la, ha[z]lo, ha[z]me ) . Dicho de otra manera, la sibilante sorda /s/ puede asimilar (o ajustar) su sonoridad a la consonante sonora que le sigue.
