Avian Reproduction All birds reproduce by laying eggs and incubating (applying for the development of the embryo) them for some period of time. There are many methods by which incubation can take place. There are NO birds that give birth to offspring. In some species, the female is completely responsible for incubating the eggs and raising the young. In other species, incubation and rearing is a shared responsibility and, In some species the female lays the eggs for the male and then it is his responsibility to incubate the eggs and rear the young.
