Nathan Yalcin PSID 0547341 ENTR 3310 Professor Sherrill 6 April – Missed Exam 3 On 6 April 2010, I missed Exam 3 due to extenuating circumstances. Besides this event, I have been present for all exams and kept up with assigned readings. The following paper will attempt to explain why I missed the Exam, as well as my understanding of the material which Exam 3 should have covered. To explain my absence, I must firs provide a bit of personal background. I was a Cavalry Scout (19D) and Infantry Rifleman (11B) in the U.S. Army for over 4 years, with 1 combat tour in Iraq. I am currently attending the University of Houston as a Political Science student, courtesy of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. In order to further my career in the Army, I recently applied for Warrant Officer Flight Training to become an Apache Helicopter Pilot. A prerequisite of this career path is perfect vision, of which I did not have. On 2 April 2010, I received LASIK surgery to correct my nearsightedness, which was initially successful. Unfortunately, during the following weekend I developed an infection in my right eye, leaving me temporarily blind and unable to drive, much less leave my home. The infection was cured using antibiotic and other eye drops, eventually resulting in healthy vision. As mentioned during the first class day, if one were to miss an exam, the contingency should have been justifiable to cease operations of a business from the perspective of a business owner. I would
